Your Brain is an Ecosystem, You Should be Cultivating It

Image
The human brain has been described as the most complex structure in the universe. The brain contains around 86 billion neurons, 85 billion other cells, and over 100 trillion connections. The brain and the body are connected by nerve bundles that moves muscles and keep organs functioning. Nerves also provide sensory stimuli from the body for the brain to process. It should be no surprise, then, that a healthy brain begins with a healthy body, which includes the heart too. Having a healthy, strong heart is essential to brain health. The stronger the pumping of the heart, the more efficient the functioning of the brain. Every time your heart beats, your arteries carry 20 to 25 percent of your blood to the brain. Keeping your heart healthy and strong requires proper diet and regular exercise. Exercise also increases blood flow to the brain and physically alters the network of blood vessels servicing neurons.  The brain is 80% water. Your brain needs water daily for proper functioning.  Eve

Navigating Debates and Casting Votes: Who Will Govern Your Heart?

Image
Where Debates Really Don’t Matter In the aftermath of the recent political debate, our country (USA) is buzzing with intense emotions and discussions. Unlike the noisy clashes we witness on TV, the cosmic conflict between God and Satan isn't a debate—God's victory is already sealed. Therefore, it's essential to remember that our ultimate allegiance isn't tied to any earthly leader. Instead, it belongs to God, our Creator and Sustainer. Who Will Govern Your Heart? As followers of Christ, our “vote” for God goes beyond any political stance. It’s about committing daily to live by His values of love, mercy, and grace. The real debate isn’t about who will govern our nation but who governs our hearts. In this divine election, our votes are cast through our actions, aligning our lives with the teachings of Jesus. Scripture Speaks: Choose Your Allegiance The Bible reminds us in Joshua 24:15, “Choose this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my house, we will serve the L

Gambling With God: A Sure Bet

Image
In a world filled with uncertainties, one of the most critical aspects of our lives that we must safeguard is our relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship is a gift, offering us unending love, eternal security, and profound peace. Yet, like all precious things, it requires our diligent attention and care. Gambling, in any form, often comes with significant risks and fleeting rewards. However, the most perilous gamble we can take is with our spiritual life. Small compromises—whether they are neglecting our time in prayer, drifting away from regular fellowship with other believers, or prioritizing worldly pleasures over spiritual growth—can accumulate and distance us from God. These actions, seemingly inconsequential on their own, can create a chasm between us and our Savior. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to let our spiritual disciplines slide. We may think skipping one church service, or one day of Bible study, won’t matter. But these small decisions can gra

Celebrating Fathers: Relationships with Both Earthly and Heavenly Purpose & Belonging

Image
In 2 Corinthians 6:18, Paul emphasizes our profound identity as children of God the Father: "And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty" (ESV). This verse encapsulates a fundamental truth, we are not merely believers but beloved members of God's family. Understanding ourselves as children of God goes beyond theological doctrine; it speaks to belonging and purpose. We are embraced by the Father’s love, chosen into His family through Christ. This identity shapes how we view ourselves and others and should ground us in love. Embracing Our Identity Living out our identity as God's children involves reflecting His character in all our actions. We are called to embody traits of compassion, forgiveness, and humility, mirroring the Father-child relationship in our interactions with others. However, embracing this identity isn't without its challenges. In a world often defined by division and conflict, living as child

Where to Find Your Minerals

Image
In the previous post we discovered wonderful plant-based foods that provide us with the vitamins the body needs. In this post we are going to discover where to find the minerals the body needs. The body requires minerals for the composition of body fluids, the building of blood and bones, healthy nerve function, and muscle tone. Heavy Metal Toxins: Let's take a deep dive

Image
Toxic metals, including "heavy metals," are individual metals and metal compounds that negatively affect people's health. Heavy metals, like arsenic, lead, mercury, and others, are all around us. They’re in the ground we walk on, in the air, in the water we drink, and in the products we use every day. High levels of most heavy metals can cause health problems. Common toxic metals are aluminum, arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury, and nickel. Nickel is widely used as a catalyst to harden fats. It is found in most margarines, commercial peanut butter, and hardened shortening. It is in drinking water, refined and process foods, superphosphate fertilizers, and tobacco smoke. Aluminum contamination is a major health threat today. High levels are showing up in the human body. Absorption of aluminum by the body is associated with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and dialysis dementia. It also lowers the body’s immune system.
