When You Can’t Hear the Tower in busy Airspace

Imagine you're flying a helicopter.

Everything appears normal.

The engine is running.
The instruments are working.
You know how to fly.

There's just one problem.

You can't communicate with the tower.

You transmit.

Nothing.

Try another frequency.

Still nothing.

The tower may be talking—but you can't hear them.

And when you're moving through controlled airspace, that's not a small problem.

Because you don't just need power.

You need direction.

Now imagine another helicopter is within radio range of both you and air traffic control.

The tower transmits instructions to that pilot.

That pilot relays them to you.

Suddenly, the message that couldn't reach you directly gets through another person.

Think about how often life feels exactly like that.

You have a job to do.

Decisions to make.

People depending on you.

You're moving—but you're not completely sure you're moving in the right direction.

And sometimes, God seems strangely silent.

But is He?

Or could something be interfering with the connection?

The Bible describes an extraordinary God-human communication network.

God speaks through His Word (2 Timothy 3:16–17). The Holy Spirit guides and teaches (John 16:13). Prayer allows us to bring our hearts before God. And sometimes, God uses another human being to deliver the message we weren't hearing.

Think about David.

He had drifted dangerously off course after his sin involving Bathsheba and Uriah.

Then God sent Nathan.

Nathan told him a story about a rich man stealing a poor man's only lamb.

David was furious.

Then Nathan essentially transmitted the message from the Tower:

"You are the man." (2 Samuel 12:7)

The signal got through.

Or think about something much more ordinary.

You've been praying about leaving your job. You're frustrated and ready to send the resignation email.

That afternoon, someone who knows nothing about your prayer says:

"Don't make a permanent decision because of a temporary season."

Coincidence?

Maybe.

But perhaps wisdom requires asking:

Could God be relaying something I haven't been able—or willing—to hear directly?

That's why spiritual "circuitry" matters.

Scripture calibrates the receiver.

Prayer keeps communication open.

The Holy Spirit brings conviction and understanding.

And trusted believers can sometimes function like relay aircraft—not replacing the Tower, but faithfully passing along what aligns with His Word.

But there's a warning.

Not every voice on the frequency is the Tower.

Every message must be tested against Scripture (1 John 4:1).

So ask yourself:

Has God been silent—or have I been disconnected?

And an even harder question:

Who has God been using to relay a message I've been refusing to receive?

Sometimes God speaks through the Word.

Sometimes through conviction.

Sometimes through circumstances.

And sometimes…

another helicopter enters your airspace.
