Who Do You Trust In Time of Need?

When times are difficult, generosity often feels like the last thing we can afford. Yet, Scripture reminds us that it is in seasons of need that the beauty of giving shines brightest. The widow who gave her two small coins (Mark 12:41–44) had little, but her faith made her gift immeasurable. Jesus honored her offering because it reflected trust in God’s provision rather than reliance on earthly security.

Generosity isn’t only about money—it’s about sharing our time, our prayers, our encouragement, and our presence with those who are struggling. In Galatians 6:2 we’re told to “carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” When we open our hands and hearts, we reflect the character of Christ, who gave Himself fully for us.

During times of crisis, fear can tempt us to hoard or retreat. But generosity reminds us that our hope isn’t in our resources—it’s in God. Acts 2 describes the early church as believers who shared everything, ensuring that “there were no needy persons among them.” Their generosity wasn’t born out of abundance but out of unity in Christ.

When we give in times of need, we proclaim that God is our provider. Whether it’s a meal, a prayer, or a listening ear, every act of generosity becomes a testimony of faith. In lifting others up, we not only meet their needs but also strengthen our own trust in the Lord, who promises to supply all our needs in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
