God Has No IRS: Why Faith Isn’t Based on How Much You Can Pay

Tax season is stressful. Between forms, deadlines, and the fear of missing something important, many of us carry the pressure of making sure everything adds up just right. In our financial world, if you mess up—there are penalties. If you forget something—there are consequences. It’s easy to feel like everything depends on your ability to get it right. But here’s the good news: God doesn’t operate like the IRS. When it comes to our faith, God isn’t looking for a perfect “spiritual tax return.” He’s not waiting to audit your life, hunting for mistakes. There are no hidden fees, no interest charges, and no fine print. In Christ, the debt has already been paid —in full (Colossians 2:14). This doesn’t mean we live carelessly. It means we live freely .
